When you think of the south, and all of the original southern charm it carries my mind immediately goes to Charleston South Carolina. From the food, the mannerisms & chivalry everywhere you turn, and the historic downtown streets and salty air I knew Charleston was a place I’d love to visit one day.
I have to say that the trip was a perfect short getaway for a three day weekend. When I first started thinking about looking into traveling to Charleston I found myself immedialty checking out what Nicholas Sparks book played out here. Needless to say when I found out that the infamous scene from the notebook took place in Charleston while they were dancing in the street. I absolutely had to add that exact spot to my list! Thankfully for me my brother recently relocated to Charleston for work so I got the best of both worlds spending time with him, and enjoying the city together!
Here are some of my top favorite spots to enjoy in Charleston!
Rainbow Row- how can you not like all the historic buildings & charm that they carry.
Shem Creek- one of my absolute favorite places to eat and enjoy for hours! The inlets, endless seafood, and laid back vibe makes you feel as if every care in the world just goes away.
Angel Oak Tree- my gosh what a beautiful 500 year old tree. One of the most magical trees I’ve ever seen.
And lastly my love for good food is one of the best things about this charming city! You can get just about any type of food at all price points.
Top 3 Local favorite restaurants we chose!
Hominy Grill- locals love it! Home cooking at its finest
Page’s Okra Grill- another favorite local hot spot
Pane e’ vino- A tucked away authentic Italian spot. Loved by locals & perfect for a date night or family outing. Of course being Italian we automatically went here and loved it.
Now, onto my bucket list item! Every time I get the chance to travel I am constantly trying to fulfill an experience that I’ve never done before. To put myself outside my comfort zone, and truly live! I did just that this trip. I went fishing! Red Fin Charters was nice enough to take my brother and I out fishing for the day on one of their charters. How amazing to truly experience fishing & enjoy all of the experience from catching my first 14 lb fish to a 150 lb shark! I was shocked at how much fun I had. From the water, waiting for a great catch, and listening to fun music while taking in the land and sights all around us, I was in heaven. This experience is one that I’ll definitely do again, and one I’ll even enjoy with my boys as they grow up.
Hope you all enjoyed my glimpse at Charleston, and consider a weekend getaway there! You won’t regret that amazing experience.
